2022 Photography Theme Category: Reflections – The 2022-2023 theme is “Reflections”. Reflection photography uses reflective surfaces to create an artistic “echo” of a scene. It
includes photos that are creatively composed to capture an image from a reflective surface. The reflection should play a significant part of the image’s composition. Examples: reflections on polished metal, glass, mirror, and water.

  • Photo Submission Deadline: Friday March 17, 2022 by 11:45 p.m.
  • Entry Fee: $3.00 per photo entry due to the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office along with a signed HB-72 form and media release forms.

General Instructions:

  • No professional assistance is allowed. The entry must be the original work of the 4‐H member(s) and not a video taken by family members, nor secured from any
    other source. Any photo or video proven not to be the original work of the 4‐H member(s) will result in disqualification. Disqualification results in the loss of all awards and registration fees.
  • Photos or videos that are deemed political, obscene, vulgar, sexually‐oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violate any decency standards or laws are strictly prohibited. The Texas 4‐H Youth Development Program reserves the right to determine and refuse inappropriate or unsuitable entries.
  • The Texas 4‐H Youth Development Program respects the rights related to copyright laws and intellectual property. All videos must be the participant’s own work. No copyrighted materials (music, images, video clips, etc.) may be used for this contest unless you own the copyright or have a license to use the material for the contest.
  • It is required that each participant have sufficient permission granted to both the artist and the Texas 4‐H Youth Development Program to publish and use as needed any recognizable locations or people filmed. A signed media release form for each person appearing or heard in the video/photo must be uploaded at the time of entry.
  • All participants must be enrolled, active 4-H members under Webb County 4-H program.
  • 2022-2023 HB-72 Eligibility Form for Photography or Videography must be submitted at time of entry.
  • Photos must be taken by participant between September 1, 2022 to time of entry.

Photography Instructions:

  • Photos may be submitted one time to one category ONLY.
  • Participants may enter one photograph per category; a total of 15 entries.
  • Must be .jpeg, .jpg. or .png (NOTE: Keep in mind, due to electronic submissions & judging, PNG files will have better quality).
  • Photos must NOT contain camera or user placed text. This includes such things as date stamps, comments, or titles. Text or wording that is part of the photograph (i.e. photo of a street sign) is acceptable.
  • Although slight computer enhanced photos are allowed, such as crop, trimming, adjusting lighting, and red eye reduction; substantially altered photography, such as changing colors, applying design styles, or using computer graphics will disqualify an entry. Any other alteration, manipulation, edits, to a photo would require the photo to be entered into the Enhanced category.
  • All photographs MUST follow:
    • Size Ratio: 3:2 (4×6) or 5:4 (8×10) either landscape or portrait).
    • File Size: Photo must be within 1MB to 10MB
    • Include the photo with the highest resolution possible
